What Are You Waiting For?

Imagine, what would happen if we actually did all the things that we said we were going to do?

Often the reason that we feel unhappy or unfulfilled is that we are not living our lives the way we really want to. So what’s stopping you from making a change?

Don’t put things off or allow your circumstances to dictate limits. I truly believe that if you want something enough, you will find a way to make it happen. You just have to!

Ask yourself, what do you value the most, above all else in your life? Do your actions align with this value? Are you being distracted by other peoples ideals or expectations?

I think that there are three things that often hold people back…

  1. Judgement.
It’s really hard to put yourself out there and often we fear criticism and judgement from other people. I can relate to this! It’s funny that when it comes to social media, we can share our photos and our ideas with the whole world, but often it’s the people closest to us, who’s judgment we fear the most. Maybe you feel like you don’t want to disappoint your parents or you feel embarrassed that your friends might see your YouTube video and roll their eyes. But you know what? Other peoples opinions are irrelevant! Don’t let it hold you back! In ten years time, when you look back, they won’t care one bit about whether you started writing a blog or whether you went to that audition, but I promise you, that you will remember it or you will regret not even trying.
  2. Excuses.
    I’m too busy
    I can’t afford it
    I don’t know how to..
    I’ve got kids
    I’m too old
    I’m too young
    Etc !!!
We all have our reasons right? I’ve probably said all of those things before, but, it comes to a point when you have to find a way to silence your own excuses! You need to look at each one and turn it around. For example, ‘I’m too busy’ so you don’t have enough time? Be honest about how you manage your time. Could you get up an hour earlier each day? Maybe you have some free time at the weekend? You have to prioritise the actions and the steps that will take you closer to your goal and eliminate distractions.¬†Your time is SO valuable! don’t waste it.
Whatever the excuse/ reason / circumstance is, accept that you are the only one that can change its and you have the freedom to do so.
  3. Lack of Patience.
Again, this is one that I can totally relate to. We live in a fast world, we want to see results immediately. Patience is a total game changer! If you start something today, you may not see the results today or tomorrow, or this month, or this year, but this doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed. Your life is a marathon, not a sprint. You have time to try things, change your mind, make mistakes and to try again. I’m not naturally a patient person so I often need to remind myself of this.

Do not procrastinate for another day and please do not let someone in your life hold you back. Grab a pen and a notebook now, make a plan or write a list. Take the first step! It won’t be perfect but you have to start somewhere.
