12 Days of Yoga

I’m 12 days in to the prAna yoga challenge. I have been lunging, stretching and breathing deeply each day. I am really enjoying it! This week, I tried Iyengar yoga for the first time. I had a quick chat with the instructor at the end of the class, coincidentally her name was Adrienne too! I told her that I was taking part in a yoga challenge and trying to do some yoga everyday for 30 days. We talked a little bit about yoga’s origins and how recently yoga has become hugely commercial and ‘cool’. She said that ‘When someone begins doing yoga, they need a flexible mind, not a flexible body’

Yoga is for both the mind as well as the body, it’s not about perfecting the perfect pose. However, there’s no denying the physical benefits of practicing yoga. It’s a great way to strengthen your core, improve your posture and sculpt your body. I feel 2 inches taller after an hour of yoga. I can’t wait for next week when I can will be going to do a class with Steffy White. Her classes are my favourite! Her passion for yoga is inspiring.

My favourite thing to practice this week is headstands, apparently being upside down is good for your circulation and you skin. Why not give it a try ?
