5 Reasons To Go Dairy-Free.

Milk, cheese & yoghurts are common in most peoples diets, so why are so many of us deciding to go dairy free? Here are my top 5 reasons to ditch dairy.

1. Beat the Bloat.
We all want a flat toned tummy, but before you start doing an intensive abdominal work out, maybe try going dairy free for a week or two. Eating dairy products can cause your tummy to become bloated and uncomfortable, especially for IBS sufferers.

2. Clearer Skin.
If you often have blocked pores, dry patches or even acne. A dairy free diet could be for you. I know that if I have eaten dairy ice cream, or chocolate, I will have a few pimples the next day.

3. Weight loss.
Dairy products have a very high calorie content. Cheese, Ice cream, Chocolate, Milk Shakes etc. Reducing the amount of dairy in your diet will most likely reduce your overall calorie intake.

4. Be an Eco Warrior!
Being dairy free contributes to the preservation of the environment and the quality of our planets soil, air and water. Ace!

5. You are not a cow.
This may sound strange, but you are drinking the milk of a huge animal, this milk is not intended for us. The proteins and hormones in cows milk are meant for a a baby calf to become a big strong cow, and you know what they say, you are what you eat!

You don’t need to worry about your calcium intake, you can get your daily requirement from foods such as broccoli, salmon and oranges. There are loads of dairy alternative food and drinks available now, so you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out. I love Vive Soy cappuccino milk and Swedish Glace non dairy ice cream. And did you know Oreos are dairy free? *Fist pump!*

Many famous faces such as, singer Ellie Goulding, actor Samuel, L Jackson and rapper Andre 3000 are all in fact vegan. Maybe I’ll give Veganism a try one day. Although, I will of course have to make an exception for my beloved Nutella!

  1. Hi Adrienne – lovely post and great blog. I am allergic to dairy and egg and my co-founders son is a well. Between us we are always trying to find new and alternative products to try. We will keep an eye on your blog for recipe ideas. If you haven’t already tried it, I can definitely recommend Booja Booja ice cream! It’s delicious.
